Lady Bears drop six straight

The Leroy Lady Bears went on a six-game slide over the past week after competing in the Jackson Invitational Tournament on Friday and Saturday.

On Thursday, the Bears took an 11-7 loss to the Tigers of Monroe County. Jennifer Overstreet, Heather Ryland and Jamie Jones all went 2-4. Courtney Sullivan went 3-4 on the day.

The first game for Leroy in the tournament was against Jackson as they fell 6-3. Overstreet and Sullivan went 2- 4 for Leroy.

On Saturday morning, Thomasville defeated Leroy 5- 3. Overstreet, Sullivan and Alex Vick all went 2-3.

To start the double-elimination tournament, Thomasville defeated Leroy 13-3. Overstreet, Sullivan, D.J. Snow, Ryland and Kristian Atchison all had one hit each.

Jackson defeated Leroy to put them out of the tournament 9-3. Ryland and Oversteet went 2-3.

On Monday, Jackson defeated Leroy in season play 5-4 in eight innings. Ryland went 3-4 while Overstreet and Jamie Jones went 2-4 with a RBI each. Tiffany Beckham, Bridget Chancey and Danielle Gill all had two hits each for Jackson.

Leroy (20-16) will host their sectional tournament on Thursday and Friday.
