Big gobbler
      Clifton Brown (right), of Sunflower killed this big gobbler while hunting with his cousin, Alan James. The turkey weighed 23 lbs., had 1 1/4 inch spurs and a 9 7/8 inch beard. This was Brown's second bird for the season.

      Police Dept. 10-Reeves 1 Cragian Jones, Jakerrian Woodyard, Justin Corley, Nathan Taylor, Jacob Brewer, AJ Vick and Quinn Finch led the way at the plate for the Policemen by collecting two hits each. LaGarian Phylon, Bryce Smith and John Karr collected one hit apiece for Reeves.

WCHS Bulldogs head for quarterfinals in Gordo

      W.C.H.S. is headed to the quarterfinals of the state baseball playoffs. Washington County defeated the Beulah Bobcats 5-3 in the first round and beat Montgomery Academy, the No. 2 team in the state, 9-2 and 9-5 to win the best-of-three series with the Eagles.

JA Alumni baseball game
      Jackson Academy baseball alumni players from the Class of 1974 to the Class of 2006 came out for a day of baseball fun at the newly renovated JA baseball stadium on April 21. A total of 23 alumni were introduced on the sidelines along with the current JA team.
