Baseball strong in this area
By Jeremy Sellers SA Columnist

Once again, this area of Alabama is well represented in baseball in the state playoffs. All three teams in Clarke County are in the playoffs with three out of four in Washington County also competing. Choctaw County is sending one to the first round.

Jackson, who had their best season in a longtime, hosted Central-Tuscaloosa on Tuesday. With a win, they would play the winner of T.R. Miller and St. James on Friday and Saturday in a three-game series.

Leroy, who won 25 of 26 games down the stretch, hosted the Reeltown Rebels on Tuesday. With a win, they would play the winner of Luverne and Houston County on Friday and Saturday.

Washington County also hosted the first round, against Beulah. That game's winner will face the Straughn vs Montgomery Academy winner this weekend.

Millry traveled to South Lamar for the first round while Clarke County took a long road trip to Ashland to take on the Clay County Panthers. Thomasville played at Northside on Tuesday while the Choctaw County Tigers went over to Geneva to play their first round game.

Good Luck to all area teams.
