Aggies set school record for wins

The Jackson baseball team grabbed three wins this past week, including one over Clarke County in the county tournament.

The Aggies started the week off with a nine-inning win at Sweet Water last Tuesday 3-2. Jeremy Reeves got the start for Jackson, going six innings and striking out eight, however, Kent Myer came on in relief and earned the win. He went three innings, giving no runs on no hits.

Todd Waller went 2-4 while Myer added a solo home run. Reeves went 2-4 with two RBIs. One of those tied the game in the seventh and the other won the game in the ninth.

On senior night 2007 Thursday, the Aggies pounded the UMS-Wright Bulldogs 10-2. Jamie Eckstein earned the win.

Waller went 3-4 with three runs scored while Myer went 3- 4 with a two-run home run and three RBIs. Logan Murphy went 3-4 with a three-run home run while Sam Griffin added two hits as well.

On Saturday, the Clarke County Tournament was held in Thomasville. The Aggies got off to a slow start with a 17-4 loss to Thomasville. William Taylor took the loss. Myer added a three-run home run while J.D. Mitchell and Murphy added hits for the Aggies.

In the next game of the tournament, Jackson knocked off Clarke County 5-4. Myer earned the win in relief. He went one inning, giving up two runs on three hits. In the bottom of the seventh with the game tied at four runs apiece, Waller was hit by a pitch. Jon Luke Jacobs singled and Myer flew out. Mack Outlaw then drove in the winning run. Murphy and Eckstein also added big hits for Jackson.

Jackson (23-9) set a new school record for wins in a season with the win over Clarke County.
