Aggies win first-round playoff game

The Jackson High School Aggies took a huge 19-0 win over Central- Tuscaloosa, Tuesday, at McCants Field to claim the right to advance to the second round of the state baseball playoffs.

Jon Luke Jacobs, Jamie Eckstein and Sam Griffin combined for a nohitter to down the Tuscaloosa team. Jacobs was the winning pitcher, going three innings and giving up no hits nor runs. Eckstein pitched the fourth inning and Griffin followed up on the mound in the fifth.

Top hitters for the Aggies were Griffin, Eckstein, Kent Myer and William Taylor. Griffin went 3-for-3 with a three-run homerun. Eckstein went 2-for-2 with a three-run homerun. Myer was 3-for-3 with a homerun and Taylor was 2-for-2 with two RBIs.

JHS will host St. James Friday in the second round. Game time was not known at Wednesday's press deadline.

Leroy wins first round

The Leroy Bears defeated Reeltown 16-6, Tuesday, to claim a first-round win in the 2-A state playoffs. Look for details of that game in next weeks' edition.
Jackson's Savannah Autry tags out a Clarke County base runner in Thursday's contest in Jackson. The Aggies came away winners 9-0.
