Clarke County Commissioner appointed to ADSS board

Clarke County Commissioner Rhondel Rhone of Fulton has been appointed by Gov. Bob Riley to serve on the Alabama Department of Senior Services Advisory Board.

"Commissioner Rhone brings a strong background in local government and community service to our board," said Irene Collins, Alabama Department of Senior Services executive director. "I am confident that he will give our department valuable input on the needs of senior citizens in the Alabama-Tombigbee and Black Belt Regions."

Rhone will serve a four-year term from 2007 until 2011.

"I am looking forward to working with the Alabama Department of Senior Services and am very interested in programs that benefit senior citizens of our region and the entire state," said Rhone.

Rhone has served on the Clarke County Commission for the past 15 years and presently serves as the president of the Alabama Association of County Commissions. He is chairman of the board of the Community Action Agency serving Baldwin, Escambia, Clarke, Monroe and Conecuh counties.

He also serves as a member and past chairman of the executive committee of the Alabama- Tombigbee Regional Commission and currently a steward of Spencer Chapel A.M.E. Church in Fulton.
