Mother confesses to theft of wallet from Gillmore classroom

The mother of a student at Gillmore Elementary School has reportedly confessed to stealing a wallet from a classroom, according to Jackson Police Det. Richard Harvey.

Tina Brooks, a former Louisiana resident, is accused of stealing a wallet belonging to a substitute teacher at the school. An earlier theft of a cellular phone occurred from the same classroom, but was never reported to police. "After interviewing the suspect, she admitted to stealing the wallet," said Harvey, "but, she denies taking the cell phone."

Harvey said he had been working an alleged burglary case in which Brooks was the victim. She now faces a charged of second degree theft of property and was booked into the Clarke County Jail, Monday, on $7,500 bond.

Brooks allegedly told Harvey she threw the wallet into a dumpster after taking it and finding no money inside. Attempts to retrieve the stolen wallet were unsuccessful because the dumpster had already been emptied by Allied
