Lady Eagles win two area games

On Monday, the Lady Eagles traveled to Butler to take on the No. 5 ranked Patrician Academy Saints. The Eagles lost another heartbreaker in extra innings 3-2. Bailey Pringle suffered the loss after going eight innings, giving up six hits and striking out six batters. Laci Wright led the Eagles with two hits. Evin Bowling and Kayla Coleman also added hits.

The JV also played Patrician on the same day, and also suffered a one-point loss 7-6. Krista Lyons had two hits and four RBIs to lead the JV Eagles. Anna Meitzler, Nataline Moseley, Kayla Lowery, Carley Gates and Hailey Overstreet contributed hits for JA.

"We just seemed to be snakebit at Butler. We could have won both games, but left 0-2. We played well but could not add a win to our record. PA is a very solid team and we have nothing to be ashamed of, we just have to work on getting better," said JA Head Coach Freddy Pringle.

The Lady Eagles won their second game area game of the season as they shut out the Wildcats of Wilcox Academy 15-0 in Jackson on Tuesday. Pringle was the winning pitcher, allowing only two hits and striking out seven Wildcat batters. Pringle also led the Eagles at the plate, going 3-4 with a triple, double and four RBIs. Bowling was 2-3 with a triple while Coleman was 2-3 with a double. Amy Thomas was 2-3 with three RBIs. Lowery, Wright, Sydney Thomas and Meitzler also added to the Eagle hitting attack.

The Wilcox Academy JV played the JA junior varsity a very close game, with JA winning 9-8. Lowery, Bowling and Lankford all pitched for the Eagles. Thomas was 2-2 with an inside the park grand slam while Lankford, Lyons, Meitzler, Maggie Bowling and Renee Wilson all added one hit each.

"I thought we played very well in both games. We had one bad inning in the second game, but showed a lot of composure and came back to win," said Pringle.

Jackson Academy sent their overall record to 15-7 and picked up their third area win in Evergreen, with a 30-0 victory over Sparta Academy. Pringle upped her record to 15- 5 as she picked up the win. The Lady Eagles used a 16-hit attack to blow the game open early. Sparta pitchers also walked 12 batters and hit three more.

Lowery was 4-4 with two doubles, a triple and five RBIs. Wright was 3-3 and Evin Bowlig was 2-4 with two triples. Pringle, Maggie Bowling, Coleman, Lyons, Moseley, Gates and Woodham all added hits as well.

"It was one of those days where everybody was getting base hits. Their pitchers were having trouble throwing strikes and when they did, we just seemed to hit it in the hole. We certainly would never try to run the score up and embarrass anyone, it was just one of those games that got out of hand," said Pringle.
