JPD investigating theft of ring through Internet sale Jackson Police Detective Richard Harvey is investigating the reported theft of a $3,400 engagement ring from a Jackson resident via the Internet. Harvey said the incident was reported April 13 by the victim who had listed the ring for sale on a popular Internet site. "A person in Miramar, Fla. bought the ring and the victim sent it to them and received a check," he said. "When she cashed the check, she was informed that there had been a stop payment placed on it, and she hasn't received the ring back." According to Det. Harvey, the Miramar Police Department is helping investigate the incident. Apartment burglarized A burglary was reported, April 10, at the Willow Trace Apartments, in which $260 of currency and children's DVDs were reportedly stolen. Harvey said the break-in is believed to have occurred sometime between March 27 and April 10 and remains under investigation. Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Jackson Police Department at 246-4484. Forgery reported A forgery was reported last week by Merchants Bank in Jackson. An undetermined amount of money is involved. Det. Harvey said a suspect is currently under investigation. "We are investigating this matter in cooperation with Best Bank of Georgia, located in Stone Mountain, Ga., where the incident occurred," he said. Theft from work site A theft was reported from a residence on Chesley Avenue April 13.
Det. Harvey reported that $825 worth of electrical wire and tools, belonging to a contractor doing work at the home, was reportedly stolen. Investigation into the theft is continuing. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the police department.
