Leroy Bears win county
In the first game of the week, the Bears defeated the Southern Choctaw Indians in Butler 17- 0. Leroy brought all 17 runs across the plate in the second inning. Grant Brown went 2-3 with a home run while Steven Scoggins and Clint Moseley had three RBIs each. On Wednesday at 4 p.m., the Leroy Bears opened up the county tournament in Millry with a win over Washington County 8-3. Taylor White grabbed the win while Brandon Jones and White added three hits each. Schultz added two hits and three RBIs. In the championship game, Moseley pitched six innings to earn the win in a 8-3 final. White went 2-4 with a home run while Scoggins added another two RBIs. With a win over Bayside on Friday, Leroy sealed home field advantage for the first round of the state playoffs. The Bears defeated the Admirals 6-4. Moseley had three hits while Schultz had two. White, Brown, Moseley, Matthew Watkins and Phillip Ervin all added one RBI each. Brandon Jones picked up the win for Leroy.
With the win, Leroy sent their overall record to 23-5 and have now won 12 straight ball games. They have also won 22 of their last 23 contest.
