JHS Aggies remain atop 4A polls
Last Tuesday, the Aggies knocked off Clarke County 13- 3 in six innings. Jeremy Reeves earned the win. Jackson scored eight in the first to leap out on the Bulldogs. Logan Murphy drove in two runs on a single while Jon Luke Jacobs went 2- 4. Kent Myer and Jamie Eckstein grabbed two hits each. On Thursday, the Aggies clinched a playoff spot when they defeated Escambia County 4-0. Jacobs earned the win. He pitched a complete game shutout, giving up four hits and striking out 12. William Taylor hit a two-run single in the fifth inning while Todd Waller and Myer added two hits each. On Friday, Jackson traveled north to Marengo County and took a tough loss to the Demopolis Tigers 10-0 in a five-inning affair. The Tigers used a five-run fifth to close the deal on Jackson. Myer, Sam Griffin, Taylor and Waller grabbed hits for the Aggies. This marked the first time Jackson had been shutout this season.
The Aggies also hosted Thomasville on Tuesday, but results were unavailable at press time. If the Aggies won, they won the area and will host the first round of the state playoffs
