Chastain - Coupland feted with several parties Emily Chastain and Christopher Coupland, both of Gulf Shores, were recently honored with several parties. Linen Shower The home of Mrs. Eric Walker was the setting on Feb. 18, 2007 for a linen shower honoring Miss Chastain, bride-elect of Christopher Coupland. Co-hosting the event were Mrs. Jimmy Cleiland, Mrs. Walter Crim, Mrs. Drew Outlaw and Miss Sally Outlaw. The bride-elect's mother, Mrs. Jackie Chastain Jr. and sisters, Mrs. Jeff Fleming and Mary Caylor Chastain, all of Jackson, were greeted by the hostesses upon arrival. Special guests attending were Mrs. Jackie Chastain Sr., grandmother of the bride-elect, Mrs. John Brown, aunt of the brideelect and Mrs. James Foster, great-aunt of the bride-elect, all of Jackson. Guests were served petitfours, orange balls, roasted pecans, cheese straws, mints and punch and coffee. Gifts were opened and displayed on the dining room table. Miss Chastain was presented a linen tablecloth from the hostesses. Holiday Shower A holiday shower was conducted in the home of Peggy Stewart on March 17. Co-hosting the event were Betty Beard, Nancy Nolen, Betsy Walker and Audra Raybon. The foyer of the home was decorated for Halloween and the living room sofa table held iron and crystal angels and twig stars. A large stone rabbit planted with fresh tulips and hyacinths was placed in the center of the dining table. Petit-fours were served from crystal tied cake plates along with cheese wafers and roasted pecans. Mimosas were served from crystal champagne flutes. Special guests attending were mother and grandmother of the bride-elect, Mrs. Ronnie Eades, mother of the groom-elect and Mrs. Shannon Austin, cousin of the groom-elect, both of Birmingham. The hostesses presented Miss Chastain with a Fitz and Floyd Christmas teapot and serving tray. Stock the Bar and Grill Party The bride-elect and prospective groom were honored with a stock the bar and grill party on Saturday, March 17 at the lake house of Bob Bowling in Jackson. Hosting the event were Ann and Happy White, Wanda and Mike Blount, Anja and David Pace, Jackie and Steve Bradley, Jenny and Champ Bowling, all of Jackson and Heather and Travis Arnott of Semmes. A St. Patrick's Day theme was used throughout the house. A tall crystal vase of fresh cut dogwood was placed on the gift table. Spring flowers were placed in large arrangements on the buffet and dining room table. A buffet of heavy hors d'oeuvres was served to approximately 30 guests. The menu consisted of fresh Gulf shrimp, chicken salad, mushrooms in burgundy sauce, veggie bars, spinach and artichoke dip, meatballs and Mexican dip. Dessert included chocolate mint brownies and Savannah's low-country cookies.
The bridal couple and their guests ended the festivities with cocktails on the deck while watching the sunset over the lake.
