Baptist Church New Canaan Missionary Baptist Church in Choctaw Bluff will be hosting their annual Ushers' Anniversary on Sunday, April 15 at 3 p.m. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Robert Powe, pastor of Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon. The Rev. Van Williams, pastor, invites the public to attend. Oak Grove Baptist Church Easter sunrise service at Oak Grove Baptist Church in the Chilton community will be Sunday, April 8 at 6:30 a.m. Breakfast will follow and then morning worship will begin. The Rev. Morris Hill, pastor, invites everyone to attend. St. James A.M.E. Church Easter services are planned for April 8 at St. James A.M.E. Church in Choctaw Bluff. Sunday School is at 9:30 a.m. with worship service at 11. The Rev. Clausell Boykin, pastor, invites everyone to attend. Family and Friends Day is set for Sunday, April 15 at 2:30 p.m. Elder Blanche Jones, associate pastor of Apostolic Faith Church in Grand Bay, will be the guest speaker.
in Jackson The Peniel Baptist Church in Jackson will be hosting an Easter egg hunt and picnic for children through the sixth grade on Saturday, April 7 from 12-2 p.m. at the church. Each child should bring his own basket and a picnic lunch. Sunday morning Easter service will be conducted at 7 a.m. There will be no evening service. Pastor Shannon Moses invites everyone to attend. Henley Cemetery annual Decoration Service The Henley Cemetery annual Decoration Service is scheduled for Sunday, April 22 at 2 p.m. The cemetery is located in Fulton. Southwest Ministerial Alliance (SMA) The Southwest Ministerial Alliance (SMA), a nondenominational association of ministers, will present "The Last Seven Sayings From the Cross" on Good Friday, April 6, 7 p.m. at Mackey Branch No. 2 Baptist Church in Whatley. The Rev. Dave Adams, pastor and the Rev. T.L. Douglas, president of the SMA, invite everyone to attend. Mackey Branch No. 1 Baptist Church The Mackey Branch No. 1 Baptist Church in Gosport will be honoring the Rev. T.L. Douglas who is celebrating his 14th year anniversary. The service will be conducted on Sunday, April 22 at 2:30 p.m. with special guests, the Rev. Bobby Johnson and his congregation at Gooden Hill Baptist Church in Putnam. Everyone is invited to join in the celebration. Sims Chapel United Methodist Church Sims Chapel United Methodist Church will be celebrating their Easter Sunday worship service at 9 a.m., April 8. Inspirational Tabernacle COGIC The Inspirational Tabernacle COGIC in Jackson will be conducting their Mission Board Program on Saturday, April 7 at 7 p.m. Minister Ida Scott will be the guest speaker. Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church A sunrise service on Sunday, April 8, 6 a.m. is planned at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church in the Salitpa community of Jackson. The youth will be presenting a play. The Rev. Derrick Powell, pastor, invites everyone to come out and worship the Lord. His Vineyard On Saturday, April 7, 7 p.m., everyone is invited to attend a singing at His Vineyard in Jackson, featuring The Jesus Singing Team from Freedom Apostolic Church in Creola. Rita Rivers will be delivering the message in song and praise. The church is located next to The South Alabamian. Greater Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church The members of the Greater Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church and their pastor, the Rev. Mulvoy Taylor Jr., invite everyone to the annual youth revival beginning on Monday, April 9 and continuing through Friday, April 13 at 7 each evening. Pastor Brian Chapman will be the guest speaker on Monday, April 9; Minister Clayton Davis Jr., Tuesday, April 10; Minister Pierre McGrew, Wednesday, April 11; Minister Thaddeus Douglas, Thursday, April 12 and Pastor Credel Bolden, Friday, April 13. Rocky Mount Baptist Church in Barlow Bend The Rocky Mount Baptist Church in Barlow Bend will be conducting their church anniversary on Sunday, April 8 at 1 p.m. The Rev. Billy Richardson will be the guest speaker. The Rev. King David Jackson Jr., pastor, invites everyone to attend. Stave Creek Baptist Church The combined choirs of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church and Stave Creek Baptist Church in Jackson, will be presenting the musical drama, "Amazing Grace" on Thursday, (today), April 5 and Friday, April 6, 7 p.m. each evening at Stave Creek Baptist Church. A nursery will be provided for both services. The Rev. William Allison and the Rev. Mike Maloy, invite everyone to attend. Sunflower A.O.H. Church of God Pastor Samuel L. Calhoun II will be honored for his 22 years of service to the Sunflower A.O.H. Church of God in Thomasville on Sunday, April 8 at 2:30 p.m. He has been ministering for 36 years. He retired from the U.S. Army, Army Reserve and National Guard after 26 years of service. Over the years, Pastor Calhoun has worked as a carpenter, barber, plumber, electrician, truck driver, certified diesel mechanic, welder and retired from Scotch Shipping Shed in Fulton as a fork lift driver. Everyone is invited to attend the celebration. Bashan Baptist Church Bro. Jimmy Simpkins and the members of Bashan Baptist Church invite everyone to attend the Easter sunrise service on April 8. The service will begin at 6 a.m. followed with Sunday School classes at 10 a.m. Worship will be at 11 and regular evening services are cancelled. Antioch A.M.E. Church in Alma Antioch A.M.E. Church in Alma is planning their annual "Spiritual Jubilee" on Saturday, April 28 at 7 p.m. The speaker will be the Rev. Georgia P. Nash, pastor of St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Carlton. The Rev. Robert Taylor, pastor, invites everyone to attend. First Assembly of God in Jackson The First Assembly of God in Jackson will be hosting their 5th annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 7 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon. More than 4,000 eggs will be filled with candy and prizes. Over 50 local businesses and the congregation have donated prizes to be given away. There will be a grand-prize for each group, 0-3, 4-7 and 8-11. Free cokes, cotton candy, snocones and popcorn will be available for everyone. A large inflatable slide and obstacle course will also be available for the children. The church is located at 2410 Coffeeville Rd. across from the National Guard Armory in Jackson. Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Carlton Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Carlton will be celebrating their 21st anniversary of their pastor, the Rev. King David Jackson, on Sunday, April 8 at 2:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Gilbert Leggett, pastor of Eagle Eye Watch Ministry Church in Thomasville. Guest choir will be the Rocky Mount Church. First United Methodist Church First United Methodist Church will conduct a Holy Thursday service April 5 and Good Friday service April 6, both at 6:30 p.m.; Easter Sunrise service, April 8, 7 a.m. at Salitpa United Methodist Church with Holy Communion at 9 a.m., Sunday School, 9:45 a.m. and worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Jim DuFriend, pastor, will officiate at all the services, and invites members and the public to attend. Union Grove Baptist Church in Coffeeville Union Grove Baptist Church in Coffeeville will be celebrating their Easter services on Sunday, April 8. The sunrise service will begin at 7 a.m. followed with a breakfast sponsored by the Brotherhood at 8. The Easter program is sponsored by the GA's of the church at 9:15. Morning worship will be at 10 a.m. Pastor Cleon Kyles invites the public to participate. There will be no evening services. The church is located on Highway 69. "The Maharry's" "The Maharry's" and other singers will be performing on Saturday, April 14, 5 p.m. at Seven Oaks Baptist Church. The church is located 10 miles west of Chatom on Highway 56 West or 3 miles east of Highway 45. Victory Grove Pentecostal Church in Wagarville Homecoming service is planned for Sunday, April 8 at Victory Grove Pentecostal Church in Wagarville at 11 a.m. Featured singers will be The Sullivan Family of St. Stephens. Gene Vincent of Sulphur, La. will be the speaker. Pastor Glenn Sullivan invites the public to attend. Grove Hill United Methodist Church The Grove Hill United Methodist Church will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 7 at the home of Mae Carole Hill at 10 a.m.
