Lady Aggies win Leroy tourney

The ladies hold their trophy up after claiming the Leroy Invitational Tournament. With three wins in the tournament, Jackson moves to 10-10 overall with a week of rest before the Tombigbee Tournament.
The Jackson High School Lady Aggies had a good week which ended by winning the Leroy Invitational Tournament.

In their first game of the week, Jackson knocked off Leroy 13-6. Ashley Brannon went 3-5 with three RBIs while Tiffany Beckham went 3-5 with two RBIs. Brittany Harrell and Bridget Chancey also added two RBIs. Danielle Gill picked up the win in relief of Brittney Sticher.

The Aggies hosted Citronelle on Thursday. With the Wildcats leading the Lady Aggies 8-1 in the sixth, Jackson scored seven runs in the sixth to tie the game up at eight. Citronelle would score one more in the seventh before the Aggies would put it away in the bottom of the seventh on a two-RBI single by Ashley Jordan.

In the first round of the Leroy Invitational, the Aggies knocked off Monroe County 10-0. Danielle Gill picked up the complete game win as well as going 3-4 with two RBIs from the plate. Tiffany Beckham went 2-4 with a home run and three RBIs.

The Aggies moved on to the semi-finals where they defeated Leroy 6-3. Gill, Beckham and Jordan all went 2-3 to lead the Aggies' attack on Leroy. Gill grabbed the win for the Lady Aggies. Brittany Harrell also added a big two-RBI double for Jackson in the fifth inning.

In the championship game, Jackson knocked off Leroy again, this time 3-1. Lynn Porter added the big hit of this game, coming in the fourth inning. Sitcher earned the win for the Lady Aggies who went to 10-10 by winning the tournament.

Jackson (10-10) will host the Tombigbee Tournament this weekend.
