Upcoming Church Announcements Easter Egg Hunt The First Assembly of God in Jackson will be hosting their 5th annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 7 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon. More than 4,000 eggs will be filled with candy and prizes. Over 50 local businesses and the congregation have donated prizes to be given away. There will be a grand-prize for each group, 0-3, 4-7 and 8- 11. Free cokes, cotton candy, snocones and popcorn will be available for everyone. A large inflatable slide and obstacle course will also be available for the children. The church is located at 2410 Coffeeville Rd. across from the National Guard Armory in Jackson. Bassett Creek Baptist Church Bassett Creek Baptist Church, located off Highway 43, approximately 3 miles north of Grove Hill, will be hosting the Clarke County Singing Convention on Saturday, March 31 at 6:30 p.m. The group has had a long history of spreading the Gospel through traditional conventionstyle singing. Pastor Chris Kynard said, "We are honored to be hosting this month's convention. I hope that everyone will make a concerted effort to come out and support one of the last existing conventions that promotes this great style of gospel music." Osbry Millender, pastor, and the officers and members of the James Chapel Baptist Church of Barlow Bend will be hosting their annual Choir Anniversary on Saturday, March 24 at 7 p.m. The Rev. Wilson Gibby will be the guest speaker. Grove Hill United Methodist Church The youth at the Grove Hill United Methodist Church will be leading the Palm Sunday service on April 1. On Saturday, April 7, there will be an Easter Egg Hunt at the home of Mae Carol Hill at 10 a.m. Inspirational Tabernacle Church There will be a musical program at Inspirational Tabernacle Church in Jackson on Sunday, March 25 at 6:30 p.m. Groups, choirs and soloists are welcome to participate. Martin Case to sing at First Assembly The First Assembly of God in Jackson will be hosting Martin Case, singer songwriter, on Sunday, March 25 at 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. He has been singing and writing since the young age of 16 when he received his first guitar. New Canaan Missionary Baptist Church The New Canaan Missionary Baptist Church in Choctaw Bluff will be hosting a spring revival beginning March 19 and continuing through March 23 at 7 p.m.. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Kelvin Maye, pastor of William Chapel Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon. Pastor Van Williams invites everyone to attend. New St. Matthew Baptist Church The New St. Matthew Baptist Church in the Lily Valley community of Jackson, will be hosting its spring revival, March 25- 28 at 7 nightly. Marcus Kelley, pastor of Word of Truth Ministry in Jackson, Monday; the Rev. William Jackson, pastor of Little Burrah Baptist Church in Manila, Tuesday; the Rev. D.W. Moore, pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist Church No. 2, Wednesday. Everyone is invited to attend the revival, said the Rev. Kevin Boykin Sr., pastor. Catholic community The Palm Sunday schedule of masses for the Catholic community will be Saturday evening, 5:30 on March 31 and Sunday morning, 11:30, April 1, both at Sacred Heart in Grove Hill. There will be no masses celebrated in Thomasville or Jackson on Palm Sunday. Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church The Rev. Robert L. Jackson, pastor of Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church in Silas, invites everyone to attend the annual Men and Women's Day program on Sunday, April 1 at 3 p.m. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Kelvin Boykin, along with the choir and congregation at New St. Matthews Baptist Church in Jackson. Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Carlton Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Carlton will be hosting its Youth Day and revival beginning Sunday, March 25 and continuing through Friday, March 30. Youth Day will be on Sunday with the Rev. James Kimball speaking at 11 a.m. Revival services will be at 7 each evening, March 26-30. The Rev. L.E. Bush, pastor, invites everyone to attend. St. Union Missionary Baptist Church The St. Union Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson will be continuing their revival through Friday, March 23 at 7 nightly. The Rev. Carl Austin of Mt. Friendship Baptist Church The Friendship Baptist Church in Leroy will be hosting its annual Choir Day on Sunday, March 25 at 3 p.m. The Rev. Dennis Bell and the congregation at Little Rock Baptist Church in Axis, will be the special guests. Pastor Charlie J. White and the church family invite everyone to attend. Little Sunflower Baptist Church No. 3 The members of the Little Sunflower Baptist Church No. 3 in Sunflower will be celebrating the anniversary of their pastor, the Rev. Robert Collins, on Sunday, March 25 at 2:30 p.m. The speaker will be the Rev. Fredrick Thompson of Pine Chapel No. 2 in Toddtown. Good Hope Baptist Church The Good Hope Baptist Church in Walker Springs will be conducting a spring revival March 28-30 at 7 nightly. Wednesday night's speaker will be the Rev. Dave Adams Jr., pastor of Little Sunflower Baptist Church in Sunflower and Mackey Branch No. 2 Baptist Church in Whatley; Thursday night, the Rev. Keven Jackson, pastor of Mt. Olive No. 1 Baptist Church in Rockville and Friday, the Rev. Edward Seabron, pastor of Springfield A.M.E. Church in Salitpa. The Rev. Clayton Davis Sr., pastor, invites everyone to attend. "Saviour" "Saviour", a modern oratorio presented by the University of Mobile Singers, soloists and orchestra, will be presented Sunday, April 29 at Dauphin Way Baptist Church in Mobile. The free concert will begin at 6 p.m. and is under the direction of Dr. Al Miller, assistant professor of music and associate dean of the UM Center for Performing Arts. "Men Making A Difference" The Rev. Clausell Boykin along with "Men Making A Difference" will be sponsoring a benefit program for Gloria "Tootsie" Todd and Clarence "Duck" Sumlin. The benefit will be conducted on Saturday, March 24, 6:30 p.m. at Spencer Chapel A.M.E. Church in Fulton where the Rev. W.T. Lesueur is pastor. The Rev. Lesueur said, "Lets come together as one and make this program a success." All choirs, groups and soloists are invited to participate. The Rev. Clausell Boykin of Men Making a Difference invites everyone to attend. Bethlehem Baptist Church The Bethlehem Baptist Church in Winn will be hosting their "Youth Day" program on Sunday, March 25 at 11 a.m. during the praise and worship services. Pastor James Richardson of A.O.H. Church of God in Winn and his congregation, will be the special guests. The Rev. Donald Sterling Sr., pastor, invites everyone to attend. Friendship Baptist Church in Coffeeville The Friendship Baptist Church in Coffeeville will be conducting its homecoming on Sunday, March 25 at 10:30 a.m. Marion Smith will be the 11 a.m. speaker. There will be a covered dish lunch at 12 noon and afternoon singing at 1:15 featuring the Dixie Disciples of Thomasville.
