The Jackson Aggies upped their record to 8-2 overall with big wins over Millry, Citronelle, Sweet Water and Clarke County. Their only defeat in the Tombigbee Classic came to Demopolis in a heartbreaker.

In the Millry game, William Taylor earned the complete game win, giving up five runs on seven strikeouts and three walks. Jeremy Reeves went 2- 3 with a solo home run while Jon Luke Jacobs added a single and a triple, combining for five RBIs. The Aggies won 10-5.

"Taylor threw the ball very well for us. This was his first varsity outing and he proved himself well," said JHS coach Jason Jones.

In the Citronelle game, the Aggies grabbed a 6-1 win at the hands of pitching by Jamie Eckstein (2-0) Kent Myer went 2-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored while Reeves went 1-3 with two RBIs.

"Jamie did a great job as well for us. He got ahead of hitters. He was able to spot his fastball and his offspeed pitch was very effective," said Jones.

Demopolis came in and knocked off the Aggies 3-2 with Myer taking the complete game loss. He gave up three runs on four hits and five walks as he struck out 12 batters. The Aggies struggled by leaving nine men on base in the game against the Tigers. Myer also hit a two-run home run in his 2-2 day at the dish. Todd Waller went 1-3 with a run scored. Scott Cannon got the win for Demopolis.

In a slugfest against Sweet Water, Jackson came away victorious as they pulled off a 9-8 win. Jacobs, Sam Griffin, who got the win for the Aggies, Waller and Taylor combined to go 12-17 from the plate. Griffin drove in the winning run in the seventh as he knocked Collin Perkins home.

In the final game of the week, Jackson defeated Clarke County 7-2. Myer was a single away from the cycle this past week as he had a double, triple and a two-run home run. Griffin and Taylor were each 2-3.

"We open up with area play on Friday at Escambia County. This will be the first game of the season that actually counts toward the playoffs, so it is very important," said Jones.

The Aggies (8-2) will travel to Escambia County on Friday before going to UMS-Wright on Saturday. Jackson will host Millry on Monday and Andalusia on Tuesday before taking Wednesday and Thursday off.
