Lady Eagles get good start to season

JA-11, CHC-6

The Jackson Academy Lady Eagles started off the 2007 season with an 11-6 win over the 3A Lady Warriors of Cottage Hill in Mobile. Seniors Laci Wright and Bailey Pringle each went 3-for-4 with four RBIs each. Evin Bowling was 2-3 with an RBI and two stolen bases. Sydney Thomas and Amy Thomas each added a hit. Pringle got the win on the mound going seven strong innings.

JA-5, MA-6

JA lost an extra inning game to the Volunteers of (3A) Monroe Academy in the Gator Classic played in Grove Hill. Kayla Lowery took the mound and pitched six and two-thirds strong innings before giving Pringle the ball for the final one and one-third innings.

Lowery and Nataline Moseley each had two hits. Lowery had two doubles, Evin Bowling a double and Kayla Coleman added a double also.

"We didn't play very good defense and couldn't get a hit when we needed it. Monroe played a good game and they deserved to win." said Coach Pringle.

JA-5, CPS-3

JA took on rival Clarke Prep at 7 p.m. and squeaked out a 5-3 win. Pringle (2-0) was the winning pitcher allowing only two hits. Evin Bowling led the Eagles at the plate. Bowling, Lowery, Coleman and Amy Thomas all scored for the Eagles.

JA 0, TA 6

Jackson took on the defending 2A state champion Tuscaloosa Academy Knights in their first game Saturday falling 6-0. The Knights, now in 3A, look primed to make a run at another championship.

TAno hit the Eagles. Pringle (2- 1) took the loss giving up five hits and two K's.

"We were just outmanned. They are really big and strong. They are well-coached and don't give you anything." said Pringle.

JA-7, PA-8 In the nightcap the Eagles faced another tough foe in the runner up 2A Champion Patrician Academy Saints. This was one of the bestplayed games seen in a long time. It went nine innings before PA finally pulled out an 8-7 win.

Pringle 2-2 (9IP 8H 5K 0BB) pitched nine strong innings fanning five and scattering eight hits while walking none.

The Eagles out hit the Saints 9- 8, but fanned 11 times. Evin Bowling was 3-for-5 with a triple and an RBI. Laci Wright added two hits, Pringle, Lowery, Coleman and Sydney Thomas each added one hit.

JA will travel to Monroeville Saturday at 10 a.m. to take on 3A Monroe and Fort Dale Academy.
