'Old-Time Fiddler's Convention coming' in April The 30th Annual "Old-Time Fiddler's Convention" at Frankville is scheduled for Saturday April 21, 5:30 p.m. The event is sponsored by W.N. Reynolds Lodge No. 900 F.& A. M. The public is invited to attend. The "Old-Time Fiddler's Convention" originated in the 1920s as a community event. It has been an annual event at Frankville since 1977 when W.N. Reynolds Lodge No. 900 took over the sponsorship. The event features an old-fashioned pork and chicken barbecue with all the trimmings; a homemade cake sale; music show and a music competition for musicians. A community and family oriented event, alcohol, drugs and offensive behavior are not allowed and will not be tolerated. Amusic show for the public will precede the music competition and will feature Wesley Knapp and the Wrangler Band. The music show will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will last until the competition begins at 7:30 p.m. All musicians are invited to participate in the music competition. Categories are: Adult (17 and Over) Best Fiddler, Best Band, Best Vocal Group, Best Buck Dance, Best Banjo, Best Soloist, Best Flat Top Guitar, Best Mandolin; Youth (16 and Under) Best Fiddler; Best Soloist, Best Buck Dance. Entries will be taken at the show. Musicians do not need to preregister.
