'Voice of Democracy' winner
Jackson Academy senior Clara DuBose (second from left) recently won second place in the statewide "Voice of Democracy" essay competition. She was sponsored by VFW Post 5355 Ladies Auxiliary. DuBose won for her essay, "Freedom's Challenge." She was presented with a plaque, certificate and two checks for her second place prize, during a special assembly at Jackson Academy, Tuesday, Feb. 27. Making the presentation was District 10 Commander Luther Parden (back) and his wife, Mae Parden (not pictured), head of the Ladies Auxiliary, Post 5106. Also in attendance were DuBose's parents, Stewart and Allison DuBose (left and third from left) and her grandmother, Patricia DuBose (right).
