Spiritual Beliefs
Paul admonishes us to pray and to pray consistently knowing that God is faithful and He will help us. He writes in verse 22 to keep away from every kind of evil. Jesus prayed in Matthew 6:13, "And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil..." It was an important prayer for Jesus to pray and it is the same for us today. The Apostle Paul also instructed us to pray for one another in verse 25. There is something about praying for others. It is hard to hold grudges and be at odds with people when you pray for them daily. You may begin to pray for the Lord to "change them" but most often it will be the one praying that will change. Hearts will soften and the Holy Spirit begins to do a great work. It is easier to love one another when you first pray for one another. Christians need to be known in their community by their love. It is not very effective to witness for Jesus and win others to the Lord if you aren't showing love in the community.
Think about the way you present yourself in the grocery store, at the bank or driving thru town. Are you showing love? We can all do better. Daily prayer is the key to walking in love. Let us remember the words of the Apostle Paul and "pray without ceasing."
