Jackson man charged with Dec. 21 burglary
Adam Wesley Tolbert was arrested Feb. 14 by Jackson Police Officer Richard Harvey in connection with the Dec. 21 burglary of Elroy Wade's residence. He is also accused of committing forgery at least five times in mid-January. Reported stolen from Wade's residence was a firearm, which was pawned at Pine City Gun and Pawn. One of the forgeries was committed at Wal-Mart, with the other four allegedly taking place at Regions Bank. Tolbert was booked into the Clarke County Jail. Auto theft under investigation A theft of a vehicle from the 100 block of Eva Lane is currently under investigation by the Jackson Police Department. According to Chief Charles Burge, the theft of the 1997 Buick Century was reported Feb. 16, approximately 12 days after it was last seen. "It is believed that the vehicle was last seen sometime between Feb. 2 and 4," he said. "The family had gone out of town and when they returned discovered it missing."
One injured in crash A Gainestown resident was injured in a crash that occurred on U.S. Highway 43 north of the Jackson city limits in front of the Tack & Rack store. Anteria Young, 30, sustained what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries, when her 1994 Cadillac Seville struck a 2003 Chevrolet driven by Jarred Alan Elmore, 17, of St. Stephens. According to Jackson Police reports, Elmore had stopped for a vehicle that was waiting to turn from the northbound, left lane of U.S. 43 into the Tack & Rack store, when he was struck from behind by the Cadillac being driven by Young. "Young was apparently unable to stop in time to avoid hitting Elmore's vehicle from behind," said Chief Burge.
Charges of driving with a revoked license are pending against Young, who was transported to Jackson Medical Center by private vehicle for treatment.
