Suspect swallows drugs during sting
While one of the suspects managed to swallow one bag of what officers believed to be crack cocaine before police could confiscate it, the other suspect was not so lucky. According to Jackson Police Officer Ben Marshall, numerous complaints had been received by the department concerning illegal drugs being sold at the location. Around 7:40 p.m., officers observed an older model Buick, occupied by two black males, parked where the club formerly operated. "As we approached the vehicle, the driver, Gabriel Bernard, was observed eating what was believed to be crack cocaine," said Marshall. "After taking control of Bernard and the other occupant of the vehicle, Anthony Yelder, we retrieved approximately 6.7 grams of crack cocaine from the second suspect's mouth." Both men were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance. Bernard had recently been paroled after serving time for distribution of a controlled substance.
