Deadbeat dad arrested after eluding WashCo deputies for some time A man sought by the Washington County Sheriff's Department for some time, because of failure to pay child support, was arrested at a Mobile motel last week. According to Washington County Sheriff's Capt. Terry Beasley, Richard Loper, 29, of Fruitdale, owed approximately $13,000 in back child support payments and was taken into custody by Mobile Police Feb. 17 and returned to Washington County. Beasley said there had been reports that Loper was living in Georgia, but a tip that he was staying at the Ashbury Motel at I-65 and Airport Boulevard. in Mobile led to his arrest. "We think he may have possibly been visiting for Mardi Gras," he said. Loper was staying at the motel with his girlfriend and her children when he was arrested. Other arrests Other arrests reported by the Washington County Sheriff's Department during the past week include: +Henry Lee Young, 27, of Millry was arrested Feb. 2 and charged with violation of probation. +Linkton Ardell Jordan, 29, of Citronelle was arrested on a warrant Feb. 12 charging him with first degree robbery. Bond was set at $10,000. +Martha Bexley, 33, of Chatom was arrested Feb. 15 and charged with theft by deception. Bond was set at $5,000. +Nicholas Bivens, 24, of Deer Park was arrested Feb. 15 on a warrant for third degree theft of property. Bond was set at $500. +Vince C. Dearmon of Millry was arrested Feb. 15 on a warrant for leaving the scene of an accident. Bond was set at $3,000. +Keith Abston, 33, of Millry was arrested Feb. 15 on a grand jury indictment for first degree receiving stolen property. Bond was set at $7,500. +Donald D. Carpenter, 27, of Millry was arrested Feb. 15 and charged with possession of a controlled substance and violation of the prohibition law. Bond was set at $12,000. +Jesse L. Crager, 54, of Chatom was arrested Feb. 16 on a grand jury indictment for two counts of first degree and one count of second degree theft of property. Bond was set at $10,000. +Adam Estel Grimes was arrested Feb. 16 on a grand jury indictment for first and second degree rape. +William Ronald Whitfield, 32, of Grove Hill was arrested Feb. 17 and charged with DUI. Bond was set at $1,000. +Edward Lewis Jackson, 51, of Leroy was arrested Feb. 17 and charged with failure to pay on a DUI charge. He was ordered to pay $1,040. +Melanie Ann Hare, 32, of Vinegar Bend was arrested Feb. 18 on a grand jury indictment for first degree theft by deception. Bond was set at $7,500. +Jed Hare, 30, of Vinegar Bend was arrested Feb. 18 on a grand jury indictment for first degree theft by deception. Bond was set at $7,500. +Brenda Adams Johnston, 39, of Malcolm was arrested Feb. 18 on a probation revocation charge.
+Erwin Royal, 29, of Tuscaloosa was arrested Feb. 19 and charged with violation of probation.
