Powerlifting meet held at JA On Feb. 5, Jackson Academy hosted its second annual Gulf South Powerlifting Meet where 122 lifters from eight schools competed. Schools represented were Abbeville, Monroe County, Fruitdale, Washington County, Marengo, Clarke Prep, Pickens Academy and Jackson Academy. Local winners in the girls 'division were Nataline Moseley(JA) in 1st place and Kayla Coleman(JA) in 2nd in the lower weight division. Tess Ackerman(CPS) and Kaitlyn Dunagan(CPS) placed in the middle weight as Rebecca Jordan(WCHS) grabbed 1st place in the upper weight class. Jordan also won the women's best bench (275 lbs.), best squat (435 lbs.), best deadlift (375 lbs.), and best overall with 1085 lbs. First place winners in the boys' division were Robert Slayton(JA) (81 lbs.), J.J. Crouch(JA) (105 lbs.), Jonathan Coleman (JA) (132 lbs.), Adam Hensen (CPS) (232 lbs.) and Andrew Green(CPS) (275 lbs.) Second place winners in the boys' class were Tyler Bradley (JA) (81 lbs.), Daniel Coleman (JA) (98 lbs.), Will Wright(JA) (114 lbs.), Josh Marks(JA) (123 lbs.), David Hughston(JA) (158 lbs.), Taylor Becton(CPS) (175 lbs.), Cory Arnold(JA) (220 lbs.), Wesley Roberson(JA) (232 lbs.) and Marcus Etheridge(CPS) (275 lbs.) Third place winners included Jake Williams, Max Harrell, Matt Barnes, Cody Thomas and Wesley Thompson.
