Aggies win area title; prepare for Andalusia

Powerlifting meet held at JA
      On Feb. 5, Jackson Academy hosted its second annual Gulf South Powerlifting Meet where 122 lifters from eight schools competed. Schools represented were Abbeville, Monroe County, Fruitdale, Washington County, Marengo, Clarke Prep, Pickens Academy and Jackson Academy.

      Jackson High School's Demarcus Besteda recently signed a full athletic scholarship with the University of West Alabama for football, beginning in the 2007 football campaign. On hand for the signing were (bottom L-R) Besteda's mother Pamela Besteda and Besteda.

Pastor's fifth anniversary to be celebrated Sunday at Goodwill
      The Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church in Silas will be celebrating Pastor Robert L. Jackson's fifth anniversary on Sunday, Feb. 18. The 3 p.m. guest speaker will be the Rev. Jessie Lowe of New Hope Baptist Church in Wilmer. Everyone is invited to attend and honor Pastor and Mrs. Jackson.
