Murder indictments handed down by Clarke Grand Jury

Two men were indicted for murder and two for attempted murder when the Clarke County Grand Jury met week before last.

William Jehue Fendley was indicted for reckless vehicle murder. He was driving a pickup that ran off the road and struck an embankment, killing the passenger, Nathan Alan Overstreet.

Trenton Jauwam McClan was indicted for the murder of Jamaury Whittaker. According to witnesses, the two men were at a Gainestown residence when McClain shot Whittaker in the neck, killing him.

Andrew Robert Downs was indicted on two counts of attempted murder. According to Downs, Charles Robert Massengale of Alabaster went to Downs' home on Maubila Road and took a boat without paying for it. Robert Edward Wright of Birmingham was with Massengale and as they left Downs' residence, Downs shot at them and then pursued them north on Highway 43, shooting at them.

Levan Roper Sr. was indicted for attempted murder and certain persons forbidden to carry a pistol. He and his son, Levan Roper Jr. had apparently argued over the younger Roper helping out with chores and bills around the house. The younger Roper left their Toddtown residence and went up the street. According to the report from the sheriff's department his father followed him and then shot him in the chest.

Lorenzo Drain Burroughs, unlawful distribution/furnishing of controlled substance, possession of marijuana, second degree.

Lelia Pritchett Bush, forgery, second degree.

Sarah E. Carlton, two counts possession of forged instrument, second degree.

Mitchell T. Coate, rape, second degree.

Robin Shirela Coleman, possession of controlled substance, possession of marijuana, second degree.

Brenda Faye Coston, possession of forged instrument.

Cotrie Cowan Jr., person forbidden to carry a firearm.

Andy Crawford Jr., robbery, first degree.

Ashley Wayne Criswell, certain persons forbidden to carry a pistol, receiving stolen property.

Anthony Curry, theft of property, first degree.

Shamathias Ladan Curtis, possession of controlled substance, possession of marijuana, second degree.

Anthony Davis, assault, second degree.

Gregory Davis, burglary, third degree.

Brandy Pauline Dunn, attempt to possess/receive controlled substance.

Caldaro Eddie, theft of property, first degree.

Allen Wesley Elmore, community notification act-residence.

Antonio Eugene Ezell, unlawful distribution/furnishing of controlled substance.

Finley Foxx, theft by deception, second degree.

Steven C. Furr, person forbidden to carry a firearm.
