WBC Bizmobile

arrives in Mobile

The Women's Business Center, Inc. (WBC) Bizmobile will be arriving in Mobile Friday, Feb. 16 for a public dedication at their main office, located at 1301 Azalea Rd, 201A. After the ceremony the Bizmobile will travel to Washington and Clarke counties.

The public is invited to a light breakfast at the WBC's main office. Events will begin at 8 a.m. The festivities will continue at 10:30 a.m. in Chatom with Mayor Harold Crouch greeting the Bizmobile at the Chatom Town Hall.

The next stop will be Jackson at City Hall. Mayor Richard Long will greet and invite everyone for a catered luncheon by Doshia's at noon.

CCCNWTF banquet

March 9

The Clarke County Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will hold their Superfund Banquet and Auction on March 9 at 6:30 p.m.

The banquet will be conducted at the National Guard Armory in Grove Hill.

Miss Alabama Teen America Scholarship

Pageant accepting

applications

The 2007 Miss Alabama Teen America Scholarship Pageant is now accepting applications.

The pageant is scheduled for March 24.

Contestants must be between 14-18 years old by the national pageant in July. They will compete in five areas including talent or speech, interview, evening gown, swimsuit and community service. Contestants should not have entered college. The deadline to enter is Feb. 28.

The winner of the Miss Alabama Teen America title will win $50,000 in tuition scholarships and various other prizes and will earn the right to represent Alabama in the Miss Teen America Pageant in July in Nashville, Tenn. Smokey City Rails Model Railroad Club

train show Feb. 24

The Smokey City Rails Model Railroad Club will be hosting their 16th Train Show and Sale on Saturday, Feb. 24 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Zion Baptist Church at 1104 Gene Reed Road in Birmingham.

Admission will be $5 for adults, $2 for children who are 8-12 years old and free for children younger than 8.

WC Junior Miss

2008 Tea Feb. 25

All junior high school girls from Washington County interested in the Junior Miss 2008 program must attend a mandatory "Tea" Sunday, Feb. 25, 2 p.m. at the Scott House in Chatom.

Girls must log on to the Junior Miss Web site, www.ajm.org prior to Feb. 20.

Click "Join Us", complete the contestant application and click submit application.

Completing form does not obligate you to participate. It notifies us that you are interested and will be used in the event that you decide to participate.

Girls attending the tea should bring a copy of their birth certificate, a $65 costume and photographers fee and a parent or legal guardian.

Tickets purchased at Mobile Civic Center

Sierra Anitra Lucille Holly of Jackson will be attending the Queen of the Mobile Area Mardi Gras Association Feb. 16-20.

Tickets for the 2007 Coronation Ceremony at the Mobile Civic Center are $15 for adults, $5 for children and can be purchased at the door.

The coronation is Sunday, Feb. 18, 8:15 p.m.

White Smith

Memorial Library

offering computer

classes

Basic computer classes will be offered at the White Smith Memorial Library on Thursdays beginning March 15 and continuing through April 19 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon.

Each member will receive a certificate of completion if they attend all six classes.

Class size is limited to six. Registration begins Feb. 23 and ends March 2.

The Community Action Agency of Baldwin, Escambia, Clarke, Monroe and Conecuh counties is seeking board representation from the private sector of Baldwin and Clarke counties.

MCHS announces

Pilgrimage 2007 The Marengo County Historical Society announces the Spring Pilgrimage 2007. Homes in Demopolis from the 19th and 20th centuries will be available for tour. Included will be Lyon's Hall, c.1850, Gaineswood, c.1843 and the renovated town hall, c.1843, as well as private residences.

This two-day event will begin Saturday, March 10, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sunday, March 11, from 2-5 p.m. Tickets are available each day at Bluff Hall in Demopolis, 407 N. Commissioners Ave., $20 per person, children under 12, $5.

dinner and auction

The Regional Child Advocacy Center Inc. (CAC) is conducting its dinner and auction on Tuesday, March 6 at the Fish House in Jackson.

The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. There will be items for a silent auction, a live auction and door prizes.

Admission is $25 and includes both auctions and a steak and shrimp dinner.

All proceeds will benefit the two programs under the nonprofit agency, the Child Advocacy Center and Almost Home.
