Leroy teams to travel for area tourney

The Leroy boys had a tough week, losing their final four regular season games, including the Thursday and Friday games against Coffeeville and McIntosh, respectively.

In the game at Coffeeville, D.J. Johnson nailed 21 points, while Aaron Williams knocked down 6 points in the 77-54 loss. For Coffeeville, Franklin Gracelin scored 22 points while Roy Brooks scored 14 points and Michael Thomas had 13.

The Bears traveled to McIntosh on Friday and took a 45-40 loss. Jerome Taylor led the Bears with 9 points. For the Demons, Quinton Thomas scored 18 points, followed by Joshua Nichols with 8 points.

The boys will play Friday in the area tournament at Flomaton against Bayside, as they got the No. 2 seed.

For the Leroy girls, they ended the season with a 12-10 record with a win over Coffeeville and a loss to McIntosh.

On Thursday, the girls grabbed a 48-22 win over the Lady Panthers of Coffeeville. Chaniquia McMorris had 11 points and Megan Goldman had 10 points. For Coffeeville, Demetris Adams scored 10 points.

The McIntosh Lady Demons knocked off the Bears on Friday 79-31. Kimberly Davis had 18 points for the Bears, while Alexis Broussard had 16. Brittany Simmons and Tanequia Barnes each scored in double figures. Leroy was paced by Ashley Snow with 16 points.

The Lady Bears will travel to Bayside for the area tournament and will face Flomaton on Thursday.
