Leroy teams to travel for area tourney

      The Leroy boys had a tough week, losing their final four regular season games, including the Thursday and Friday games against Coffeeville and McIntosh, respectively. In the game at Coffeeville, D.J. Johnson nailed 21 points, while Aaron Williams knocked down 6 points in the 77-54 loss.

Jackson Little League sign-up schedule set
      Little League sign ups will be held today Feb. 8, 4:30- 7:30 p.m. at North Jackson Park. Sign-ups will also be held Feb. 13 and 15 at the same times. Registration fee is $45. Must bring birth certificates. Tryouts for 9-12 year olds will be March 3 and March 10.

      While hunting with his dad on the last day of hunting season, 10-year-old Tristan Moore of Jackson, killed this nice 8-point buck. He shot the 165 lb. deer with a .223 rifle.

      Brothers Brannon Christian, 9 (left), and Cooper Christian, 7 (right), both shot and killed bucks while hunting with their grandparents in Crenshaw County, Jan. 30. Brannon killed an 11-point buck, while Cooper bagged a 3-point.

      Tucker Faust killed his second deer of the season, this big 9- point buck, while hunting in Rockville. He shot the deer with a semi-automatic .08 rifle.

      Elliot Pugh, 12, a student at Jackson Middle School, killed his second deer of the season while hunting near Jackson, Jan. 30. He shot the buck with a 30-30 rifle. He is the son of Thomas Pugh.
