Donation to HIPPY program
Alabama Power recently presented a $2,500 donation to Clarke County's HIPPY (Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters). Pictured are HIPPY committee members Janet McCants, Jean Daffin, Julia Ann Deas, Alabama Power's Danny D'Andrea, Gwen Powell, chairperson for HIPPY funding, Judy Graham, Alabama Power representative, Sharon Jones, Althea Thomas, Asbury Daffin and Lashonda Holly. HIPPY is a research based parent involvement school readiness program. It is designed to empower parents as primary educators of children at home before entering kindergarten. It is a collaborative effort between the Clarke County Development Foundation and the Jackson Education Committee.
