Chris Beverly named new Clarke County Revenue Commissioner

      Gov. Bob Riley has appointed Chris D. Beverly of Thomasville to the position of Clarke County Revenue Commissioner. Beverly replaces Jay Duke, who moved to the circuit clerk's post after being elected last November. "I'm very pleased to appoint Chris Beverly to this important position.

Etheredge kills first deer
      Connor Etheredge, 9 years old, killed his first deer on Nov. 20, 2006 while hunting at his PawPaw's. He shot the deer with a .223 rifle. Connor is the son of Kathy and Kenneth Etheredge of Leroy.

New CCHD building
      County Health Department Friday. It will replace a 3,600 square foot building built in 1967 on Clark Street near the courthouse. The new building will be built on Highway 84 East on the edge of the airport and will cost $1 million to $1.5 million.
