Lady Bears take third place in tournament

The Leroy Bears boys’ and girls’ teams competed in the Clarke County Invitational over the past week with the boys taking two losses while the girls came away with third place by defeating the Linden Patriots.

The boys were defeated on Friday by the Clarke County Bulldogs 69-16, followed by a tough loss to the Bulldogs of Sweet Water on Friday 37-35.

Defeated by the Lady Bulldogs of Clarke County on Thursday 75-51, the Lady Bears were able to pull out the win against the Lady Patriots on Friday, to grab third place. The Bears defeated Linden 41- 40 on a layup by Ada Collins with 18 seconds remaining.

Leroy’s varsity boys move to 1-7 on the young season while the Lady Bears up their record to 5-3. Both teams will face Jackson on Friday and at home against Bayside Academy on Saturday.
