Argument leads to murder

An argument led to one man’s death and another being jailed on murder charges Dec. 30.

According to witnesses, Ernest James Richardson went to the home of Norris Gene Marks in Morvin. There was an altercation between the two and at some point Marks allegedly shot Richardson in the upper left chest with a 12-gauge shotgun.

Richardson was transported to Southwest Alabama Medical Center and died en route to Tuscaloosa.

Marks has been charged with murder and his bond was set at $50,000.

Investigator Vergil Chapman, Corporal Ron Baggett, Deputies Thomas Foxx and Hubert Finch of the Clarke County Sheriff’s Department investigated.
