Mark Your Calendar CCCADC hosting breakfast The Clarke County Chapter of the Alabama Democratic Conference will be hosting the third annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. birthday prayer breakfast on Saturday, Jan. 13, 8 a.m. at the Jackson Steakhouse. Tickets will be $10 and can be purchased from any member. Guest speaker will be District Judge Jo Celeste Pettway. Johnnie Byrd is the chairman. CCCDC and 3C Coalition to meet The Clarke County Community Development Corporation and the 3C Coalition will be conducting a joint meeting on Saturday, Jan. 13, 11 a.m. at Mt. Olive No. 2 Baptist Church to discuss issues of the Harper High School, located on J.W. Andrews Highway in Jackson. Pastor at Mt. Olive No. 2 is the Rev. D.W. Moore. The public is invited to attend. CHS lab open house Coffeeville High School invites everyone to visit the new ACCESS Interactive Videoconferencing (IVC) Lab on Monday, Jan. 8 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. ACCESS, which stands for Alabama Connecting Classrooms, Educators and Students Statewide, is a distance learning initiative that allows schools to help other schools by offering advanced level courses and electives that may not otherwise be available. It presently offers 32- Web-based courses and 25 videoconferencing courses. JHS Class of 1957 planning reunion The Jackson High School Class of 1957 will be conducting a reunion planning meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 9 at White Smith Memorial Library at 6 p.m. All graduates and others who attended with the class at any time are encouraged to attend and help plan the 50th anniversary reunion. CCHS planing 25-year reunion Members of the Clarke County High School Class of 1982 are planning a 25-year class reunion. All interested graduates should contact San Thomas, 251-247- 1269, Marylyn Moore, 334-636- 5834 or Emma Martin, 251-275- 3380 with current phone numbers and addresses. VFW 5355 meetings The VFW Post 5355 and ladies auxiliary meets the third Thursday of every month, 6 p.m., at the VFW Club on Club Wiley Road. Members are urged to attend and new members are welcome. Sickle Cell support Sickle Cell education and support group meets the first Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m., at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital. Diabetic support The Diabetic Support Group meets the first and third Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the dining room at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital.
