Neighbor's quick thinking saves home from fire
Thanks to the quick thinking of a neighbor, an Allen Walker Road residence was spared from catching fire last Wednesday evening, March 28. The Jackson Fire Department received a call around 5:15 p.m., reporting a woods fire on Allen Walker Road. Adomestic dispute between a man and woman in Jackson, March 31, turned violent with both requiring medical attention for cuts received during an altercation. Judge recuses himself from Boise tax hearing

Clarke County Circuit Judge Stuart DuBose stepped aside from hearing an appeal by Boise to reduce its tax bill on the Jackson paper mill operations. Boise filed a challenge last fall to the Clarke County Board of Equalization's assessment of certain parts of the Jackson mill and the challenge was set to be heard by DuBose Monday. More...

• Murder trials on Clarke County court schedule
Criminal jury term will begin in Clarke County Circuit Court Monday, April 9. There are two murder cases and two attempted murder cases scheduled for trial. Nathan Lee Chapman is charged with the murder of Kelvin Foster. Foster's body was found at the corner of Highway 5 and East Main Street in Fulton Dec. 1, 2005. Foster had been shot in the back.
