Argument over cigarette nearly gets man killed
An argument over a cigarette nearly cost one man his life and landed the other in jail last week.
Apparently Calvin Rankin and Daniel Black were at a residence on Walker Springs Road when the altercation erupted.
Rankin, 40, of Alma, allegedly fired a 20 gauge shotgun at Black. Black jumped behind a pickup truck, which was hit by the shot.
Rankin was charged with attempted murder and his bond was set at $50,000.
Clarke County Sheriff's Department and Jackson Police Department responded.
