Patton
Bernice Alma Roberts Schultz

Bernice Alma Roberts Schultz, 77, died Dec. 2, 2006 at a local health care facility in Jackson. She was a native of Coffeeville and a resident of Jackson. A member of Stave Creek Baptist Church in Jackson and the Jackson Rescue Squad, she retired from Vanity Fair after 40 years as a seamstress.

Survivors include a son, Thomas Schultz of Jackson; brother, Richard Roberts of Grove Hill; two sisters, Martha Martin of Biloxi, Miss. and Sadie Anderson of Jackson; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The funeral service was Dec. 4 at Stave Creek Baptist Church in Jackson. Interment was in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.

Leslie James

Leslie “Shubd” James of Sunflower, a retired saw operator for a logging company, died Dec. 3, 2006 at Providence Hospital in Mobile at the age of 81. He was a member of Little Sunflower No. 3 Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

He is survived by his wife, Augusta Field James of Sunflower; two daughters, Celestine Fikes of Sunflower and Shelia Williams of Birmingham; stepson, Ronald W. Woods of Sunflower; stepdaughter, Linda F. Woods of Chatom; brother, Jeff James Sr.; sister, Lizzie Jackson of Sunflower; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren.

The funeral service will be Friday, Dec. 8, 11 a.m. at Little Sunflower Baptist Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in the Redhill Cemetery in Sunflower with Jackson Memorial Funeral Home directing.

Cleveland Leggett

Cleveland Leggett, a retired logger and member of St. Luke Baptist Church in Walker Springs, died Dec. 3, 2006 at his home at the age of 71. A native and resident of Walker Springs, he was preceded in death by his parents, Leola Jones Leggett and Ernest Leggett.

He is survived by his wife, Janie B. Leggett of Walker Springs; two sons, Eddie Roy Leggett of Walker Springs and Willie Lewis Leggett of Grove Hill; four daughters, Sammie Robinson of Grove Hill, Ledora (William) King of Whatley, LaSonya Leggett of Walker Springs, and Debra (Jerry) Nettles of Carlton; sister, Rosa Washington of Austin, Texas; brother, Curlee (Shirley) Leggett of Pittsburgh, Pa.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be Saturday, Dec. 9, 2 p.m. at Andrews Funeral Home in Jackson. Viewing will be one hour prior to service. Interment will be in Hotel Hill Cemetery in Walker Springs.

Mamie Lee Patton Mamie Lee “Nannie” Patton, 80, a native of Walker Springs and a resident of Jackson, died Dec. 3, 2006 at Springhill Memorial Hospital in Mobile. A retired domestic, she was a member of St. Luke Baptist Church in Walker Springs and a former choir member. She is preceded in death by her parents, Aro McLeod Holley and James Milton Holley.

Survivors include a son, Charles Edward Williams of Jackson; daughter, Gloria Jean (Eddie) Johnson of Jackson; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be Saturday, Dec. 9, 11 a.m. at St. Luke Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby White, pastor and eulogist. Viewing will be on Friday, Dec. 8 at Andrews Funeral Home in Jackson from 2-4 p.m. A second viewing will be conducted one hour prior to funeral service. Burial will be in the Hotel Hill Cemetery in Walker Springs.
