Search continues for ‘Citizen of the Year’

The search continues for the next Jackson Civitan Club’s Citizen of the Year. For more than 50 years, the Jackson Civitan Club has sponsored the program and is seeking nominations from other civic organizations as well as individuals. Those submitting nominations are asked to abide by the following criteria:

•Nomination should be based upon activities during the calendar year 2006.

•Nominations should be for work above and beyond one’s own vocation, which benefitted the people of the Jackson area.

•A secret committee, comprised of former Citizen of the Year recipients will determine the winning nominee. In the event of several nominators for one individual, these several are to be considered as one.

•The Citizen of the Year should reward civic club members or civicminded individuals of Jackson and should encourage others to endeavor to become a nominee and perhaps even a future Citizen of the Year.

Deadline for submissions of nominations is Jan. 15. Nominations can be mailed to: Citizen of the Year Nominations, P.O. Box 312, Jackson, AL36545. This year’s Citizen of the Year banquet is planned for Feb. 15. Tickets will be available soon. Read upcoming editions of The South Alabamian for ticket price information and where they may be purchased.
