Church Announcements Word of Truth Fellowship Church The Word of Truth Fellowship Church in Jackson will be hosting a special celebration honoring Pastors Marcus and Belinda Kelley on their fifth anniversary on Sunday, Dec. 10, 3 p.m. Special guest speaker and guests will be Pastor Lester Bell Sr. and his congregation at New Beginning Christian Center in Creola. Everyone is invited to attend, said Sharon Starling, director of pastor aide. Anointed Brown Sisters to perform The Anointed Brown Sisters of Tuscaloosa will be performing a pre-Christmas musical extravaganza on Sunday, Dec. 10, along with speaker the Rev. Alphonso Bowen, pastor of Mt. Mariah Baptist Church. The event will be conducted at the Walnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church at 4 p.m. located in Morvin on Highway 69. Master of ceremonies will be the Rev. Joseph Patterson and the program will be sponsored by the youth department at Walnut Grove. Pastor David Fuller invites the public to attend the program. Spencer Chapel A.M.E. Church The Spencer Chapel A.M.E. Church in Fulton will be conducting their annual Christmas program on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 4 p.m. Special guests will be the Rev. Thaddeus J.Z. Douglas and the choir of Mt. Olive No. 2 Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson where the Rev. D.W. Moore is pastor. The public is invited to attend the celebration of Jesus’ birthday, said Regina Philen, youth program director, Annye D. Owens, program chairperson and the Rev. W. T. Lesueur, pastor. Greater New Hope A.M.E. Church of Millry The 2nd Annual Touring of Decorative Homes for Christmas will be conducted on Thursday, Dec. 20 beginning at 6 p.m. The program is sponsored by the Greater New Hope A.M.E. Church Missionary Department in Millry. Entry fee is $25 and there will be first, second and third place prizes awarded. The deadline for entry is Sunday, Dec. 17. Benefit for James Peoples at Good Hope Baptist Church A benefit program for James Peoples will be conducted on Saturday, Dec. 9, 6 p.m. at Good Hope Baptist Church in Salitpa. Peoples has been diagnosed with cancer and been off work since last year. All groups, choirs, soloists, family and friends are invited to participate, said the Rev. Derrick Powell, pastor. River Hill Baptist Church The River Hill Baptist Church choir in Salitpa will be presenting “Jesus, There’s Something About That Name” on Sunday, Dec. 17, 5 p.m. Directing the program is Barbara Bennett. First Baptist Church of Jackson The First Baptist Church of Jackson adult choir will be presenting “A Christmas Prayer”, a musical drama, on Saturday, Dec. 9 and Sunday, Dec. 10 in the church sanctuary at 6 p.m. Brian Jemison, minister of music and the Rev. Dr. Tim Huie, pastor, invite everyone to attend the program. Wagarville Baptist Church The Wagarville Baptist Church is conducting their annual Christmas cantata on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 5 p.m. “Emmanuel,Celebrating Heaven’s Child”, will be performed by the choir under the direction of Louie Busby, minister of music. Church of Pentecostal Choctaw Bluff The Church of Pentecostal Choctaw Bluff will be conducting its annual Christmas banquet on Saturday, Dec. 16. The theme is “Thou shall call His name Jesus.” This wonderful fellowship will be conducted at the H.W. Pearce Memorial Park Assembly House in Jackson at 6:30 p.m. The speaker will be Min. First United Methodist Church The Chancel Choir of the First United Methodist Church in Jackson will be presenting its Christmas cantata “Bethlehem Morning” on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 6 p.m. Soloists are Charlene Green, Gay DeWitt, Janet Rogers, Dianna Brown, Chet Noble, Heidi Bell, Dr. Stanley Beard, John Brown, Debbie McCorquodale and Leslie Davis. Charlene Green and Samantha Slayton will be featured on the bells along with Jim Rogers, flute, Colette Chivers, organ and Mary Stoker, piano. “We invite the public to hear this beautiful Christmas cantata,” said Elaine Carr, music director. Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church Everyone is invited to attend the anniversary celebration of Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church in Whatley on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 2:30 p.m, said the Rev. Prospere Sainvilus, pastor. The guest speaker and special guests will be the Rev. Clifford Mitchell and the congregation at First Church of God in Mt. Vernon. Jackson Street Baptist Church The Jackson Street Baptist Church will be celebrating the 8th anniversary of the Rev. C.C. McCants as a solo singer on Sunday, Dec. 10 at 2 p.m. The Rev. Kevin Jackson will be the speaker. He is pastor of Mt. Olive No. 1 Baptist Church. All soloists, groups and choirs are invited to participate. Guest groups will be the Alabama Tones of Joy, Golden Voices of Newbern, Silver Stars of Birmingham and the Rev. Lonnie Weaver of New Cannon Baptist Church of Marion. Host groups will be the Jackson Male Chorus, Ingelic Stars and Anointed Angels of Jackson. New Matthew Baptist Church The officers and members of the New Matthew Baptist Church in the Lily Valley community of Jackson will be observing its Pastor Appreciation Day on Sunday, Dec. 10 at 3 p.m. The Rev.
