Area Obituaries

Dessa R. Atchison Shoultz

Dessa Rebecca Atchison Shoultz, 84, a lifelong resident of Salitpa, died Nov. 23, 2006 at her residence. A member of River Hill Baptist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Salitpa Fire Department and the Jackson Rescue Squad, she also served as a poll worker for 45 years. She was a retired machine operator for Vanity Fair Mills.

Survivors include three sons, John T. (Ruby) Shoultz of Citronelle, Joseph L. Shoultz and Stephen R. (Dawn) Shoultz, all of Salitpa; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Scott Myers officiated the 10 a.m. funeral service on Nov. 25 at River Hill Baptist Church. Interment was in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.

Pallbearers were William Hughes, Randall Shoultz, Jeremy Wilson, Christopher Shoultz, Mike Shoultz and Johnny Shoultz.

Honorary pallbearers were members of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Salitpa Fire Department and the Jackson Rescue Squad.

Junior Floyd Fuller

Junior Floyd Fuller, 65, a native and resident of Whatley, died Nov. 22, 2006 at his home. He was a retired truck driver with Porter Trucking Co.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Fuller of Whatley; son, Jimmy Fuller of Grove Hill; daughter, Deborah Fuller of Grove Hill; eight brothers, Curtis Fuller of Allen, Charles Fuller of Bassett Creek, Tommy Fuller, Bennie Fuller and George Fuller, all of Whatley, Travis Fuller and Warren Fuller, both of Grove Hill and Cecil Fuller of Walker Springs; three sisters, Nell McConnell, Lucille Vick and Betty White, all of Whatley.

The funeral service was Nov. 26 at Asbury Baptist Church in Grove Hill. Burial was in the church cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home of Grove Hill directing.
