The Leroy Bears came into the homecoming game against Red Level Friday knowing that a win would seal Region 1 for them. The Bears prevailed on that and took a 26-16 victory and the region championship.

The first quarter was full of fumbles, with the first being committed by Red Level. Leroy's Brandon Jones was the recoverer. On the Bears' opening play following the fumble, Aerick Davis committed a fumble. Red Level would reach pay dirt on the Leroy mistake with a 14-yard touchdown run by Princeton Ryce. Joshua Douglas added the PAT and the Tigers were on top 7-0.

Leroy would commit yet another fumble, which would lead to a 31-yard field goal by Douglas to give Red Level a 10-0 lead. After both teams exchanged possessions, Leroy would regain possession first and goal. The Tigers were able to hold Leroy until fourth down when Davis found Brittian Schultz in the back of the end zone for the touchdown. Paul Gartman added the PAT for the Bears and the score with 4:25 until halftime was 10-7 in favor of Red Level.

Red Level would add another touchdown on the next possession when Blake Pate hooked up with Odom, this time through the air. Patrick Wilson was able to block the PAT for the Bears to set the halftime score at 16-7 in favor of Red Level.

Leroy gained possession when Patrick Rivers picked off a Pate pass and returned it down to the Leroy 1-yard line.

Davis scored on the QB sneak to send the score to 16-13. Gartman's PAT was good as Leroy cut the lead to 16-14.

The Bears added another touchdown on a 29-yard interception return by Chris Weaver for a touchdown. Gartman's PAT failed as the Bears gained a 20-16 lead with 2: 09 remaining in the third.

Leroy was able to hold Red Level on their next drive to a fourth and 47 punt.

The Bears added their final score when Ronald Bracy hit a 5-yard touchdown run. PAT failed as the Bears took the 26- 16 lead.

The Bears will travel to face Choctaw County this Friday night, before they prepare to host Holy Spirit in the first round of the state playoffs Nov. 10.
