Miller pulls fuel from the Aggies' tractor
Jackson received the opening kick off, but fumbled on their very first play from scrimmage, setting up a Miller touchdown on a 3-yard run from the fullback. Miller led 7-0 early on in the first quarter. Jackson retaliated with a scoring drive of their own. Andrew Ezell closed off a scoring drive by punching it in from 5 yards out to bring the game to 7-6. The PAT was blocked with 6:59 in the first. Miller would continue with the offense on their next drive as the fullback would stick another one in from 3 yards out to give the Tigers a 14-6 lead over Jackson with 2:48 in the first. Jackson would grab that score back on an 8-yard touchdown run from Ezell. That run was set up by a 43-yard run, also by Ezell. The two-point conversion by Ezell was good and the score between Jackson and the No. 1 ranked Tigers was tied at 14 each with 11:55 in the second. Miller would rebound and score again on a run by the fullback to send the score to 21-14. On Jackson's ensuing drive, the Aggies found themselves in a fourth down situation. The Aggies were lined up in punt formation when Ezell took the snap and ran 68 yards for a fake punt touchdown run. The PAT by J.D. Mitchell was good and the Aggies were tied up again 21-21. Before halftime, Jackson would add a 29-yard field goal and another touchdown drive to make the score 31-21 as the teams headed to the locker rooms. The Aggies came out fighting after halftime as they scored on a 57-yard touchdown pass from Kent Myers to DeMarcus Besteda, when the ball was tipped in the air by a Miller defensive back. Mitchell's PAT was good and the score with 9:06 in the third was 31-28. The Aggies added another score with 1:12 left in the third on a 5-yard touchdown pass from Myers to Will Stevens. The PAT was no good and the score was 34-31. Despite Jackson's great effort, Miller was able to put the game away with one final score with 5:35 in the game. T.R. Miller knocked off the Aggies 38-34 in what was an offensive thriller. "This was a very tough loss for us," said Jackson Head Coach John Blackmon. "It was heartbreaking that we played so well against such a good team, and let the game slip. We had our chance to win, but we just couldn't pull it out.
"We have to get ready to face W.S. Neal this week, this is a must-win game for us," said Blackmon. "I am just glad that we get the chance to play in front of our home crowd."
