FBC of Leroy youth raise money for 'World Hunger Day'

The girls, who brought in the least amount of money, prepare to kiss the goat.
The GAs, RAs and Mission Friends at First Baptist Church of Leroy recognized World Hunger Day by collecting change to purchase goats for the poor in Croatia, a project between Christian Initiative for Development and the WMU Foundation of Alabama.

"The people are in dire need of assistance, said Margaret Williams, Missions Leadership team director.

"By providing one or two animals, recipients are able to receive the immediate benefits of the animal, i.e., milk or meat from offspring, while learning, through hands-on experience, farm management. There was so much excitement regarding the project. No 'kidding.'"

Boys and girls teamed up against each other and the team bringing in the least amount of money had to kiss the goat. Both teams collected enough money to buy five goats. The boys' team brought in the most so the girls had to "pucker up."
