Mark Your Calendar Center The Wagarville Nutrition Center will be hosting a program titled, "Young at Heart Big Show" on Nov. 4 at 6 p.m. The program will focus on nutrition. There will be door prizes and plenty of fun. The cost is $4 for adults and $2 for children. Children 5 and under are free. Greater Pilgrim Rest to honor pastor The Greater Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Jackson will be honoring its minister of music, Deacon Charles Johnson and his wife, Yvonne, on Sunday, Oct. 22 at 3 p.m. The theme is "Play skillfully with a loud noise". Minister of the hour will be the Rev. Mulvoy Taylor. The Rev. Frederick Thompson Sr., pastor, invites everyone to come and celebrate this special occasion. Mistress of order is Marilyn Berry. Rockville Baptist hosting singing The Rockville Baptist Church in Jackson will be hosting a singing on Sunday, Oct. 29 at 6 p.m. "Saving Grace" will be the featured performers. Everyone is invited to attend. Millry Baptist Church blood drive The Millry Baptist Church and United Blood Services will be conducting a blood drive on Tuesday, Oct. 31 from noon until 6 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. McKinley Reunion set for Oct. 28 Descendants of James Monroe McKinley will be meeting at the Liberty Baptist Church Fellowship Hall on Saturday, Oct. 28. Come early and bring a covered dish for lunch. CCERA to meet The Clarke County Education Retirees Association will meet on Thursday, Oct. 19, 11:45 a.m. at the Magnolia in Grove Hill. Members are asked to attend and bring a new member with them. This will be the Legislature/State Office Representative meeting. Elective officials and those who are candidates for office are invited to attend. Our speaker will be the Honorable Pat Lindsey. Thomas Family Reunion is Oct. 22 The relatives of the late Mr. and Mrs. W.R. "Billy" Thomas of Lower Peach Tree are planning a family reunion on Sunday, Oct. 22 at the H.W. CHS Ole Timer's Reunion The Coffeeville High School "Ole Timers" Reunion is set for Saturday, Oct. 21 at the school. Thomasville Arts Council presenting 'Ghost Walk' The Arts Council of Thomasville will be presenting the 3rd annual Kathryn Tucker Windham "Ghost Walk" on Saturday, Oct. 28, 5 p.m. at Clay Park in downtown Thomasville. Enjoy a hayride to historic homes while listening to music, singing and tales of Thomasville's past. Storytellers in period costume will tell tales from the "13 Alabama Ghosts" series. Thomasville native Kathryn Tucker Windham will also be on hand to tell a few tales. There will Ghost Walk Tshirts and books by Windham available for purchase, a children's costume contest beginning at 6 p.m. and the Dixie River Band will entertain at Clay Park. There will be armbands for a special children's area the Thomasville High School Drama Club will sponsor which includes space jumps, slides and more. Clarke County People First aluminum can drive The Clarke County People First aluminum can drive will continue through Oct. 20 for the United Way goal of $400. Drop off point is at Clarke County ARC on Forest Avenue in Jackson or call for pickup service at 246-3000. VFW 5355 meetings The VFW Post 5355 and ladies auxiliary meets the third Thursday of every month, 6 p.m., at the VFW Club on Club Wiley Road. Members are urged to attend and new members are welcome. Sickle Cell support Sickle Cell education and support group meets the first Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m., at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital. Diabetic support The Diabetic Support Group meets the first and third Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the dining room at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital.
