Southern Choctaw tomahawks the Wildcats in Millry

The Southern Choctaw High School Indians whipped the Millry High School Wildcats 47-7 Friday night on Wildcat Hill.

The Indians started the game off with a fumble on their own 27-yard line and the Wildcats recovered it. Then Earvin Turner intercepted a Dylan Whitsett pass for the Indians, but SCHS could do nothing with it and punted the ball back to Millry.

Millry struck first on a Whitsett 14-yard touchdown pass to Nebemish Henry. With the PAT good, the Wildcats led 7-0 with 4:40 to go in the first quarter.

The Indians struck back with touchdown of their own on a 40-yard run by Shannon Dozier with 2:43 to play in the first quarter. SCHS went for two points and took a 8-7 lead.

Then Millry went three downs and out and their punt attempt was block by the Indians' Timmy Thornton.

SCHS later scored on a 8- yard touchdown pass from Skylar Gibson to DeShawn Gillum, the PAT was missed and the Indians led 14-7 with 9:10 the play in the second quarter.

The Indians did not stop there as Skylar Gibson threw his second touchdown pass of the second quarter, a 45 yarder to Jay Johnson. With the point after good, the Indians led 21- 7 with 1:10 to go in the first half.

Millry fumbled the football on the second play of the third quarter and Timothy Ellis recovered it for the Indians at their 47-yard line. Skylar Gibson threw his third touchdown pass of the game to Johnson a few plays later. After a 23-yard touchdown pass, the Indians kicked the extra point and led 28-7 with 6:40 to play in the third period.

The Wildcats fumbled again with Gillum recovering it for SCHS. Late in the third quarter Johnson ran 5 yards for another Indians' score with :54 to play in the period. Millry blocked the PAT and SCHS led 34-7. Late in the fourth quarter the Indians fumbled and the

Wildcats recovered. But two plays later Whitsett threw a interception to the Indians' Marty Frost and it was returned 90 yards for the touchdown. Robert White made the PAT and SCHS led 41-7 with 3:43 to play in the ball game.

The last score of the game came when Lewis Foster picked off a Millry pass with :02 left in the game and raced 85 yards for the touchdown for the Indians with no time remaining.

The final score was 47-7. The Indians improved to 4-1, 2-1 and Millry dropped to 2-3, 2-1. Indians' Shannon Dozier had 26 carries for 99 yards and one touchdown, Jay Johnson had 14 carries for 99 yards and one touchdown and Skylar Gibson completed 10 of 17 passes for 130 yards and three touchdowns.

Millry's Marquis Reasor had 19 carries for 104 yards and Dylan Whitsett completed six of 11 passes for 17 yards and one touchdown.

Millry will host J.F. Shielfs Friday at 7 p.m.
