Reunion set

for Oct. 21

The Coffeeville High School "Ole Timers" Reunion is set for Saturday, Oct. 21 at the school.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. A covered dish luncheon is planned and everyone is asked to bring their favorite dish.

The Class of 1956 will be honored at this time. Attending will be former students from a wide range of classes and this is a great opportunity to see old friends.

BTAPC

The Ballet Theatre Arts Performing Center (BTAPC) was unable to cast the musical "Smoke on the Mountain" at the first audition.

Another audition has been scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 8, 2 p.m. at the BTAS Theatre in Gilbertown located at 253 College Street.

Characters still needed are the teenage son, Dennis (must look like the age of 17) as well as other roles. For more information call 251-843-5138.

Mott-Brown

reunion planned

The Mott and Brown family reunion will be Saturday, Oct. 14 beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the Oak Grove Baptist Church on Highway 154 near Chilton.

Everyone attending is asked to bring a covered dish and lawn chair.

to meet

The Jackson High School Class of 1982 will be meeting on Thursday, Oct. 12 at the Jackson Steakhouse at 6 p.m.

Heart of Dixie Collectors Club

The Heart of Dixie Collectors Club will be hosting their first collectable show and sale on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. at H.W. Peace Park Assembly House in Jackson. There will be collectables of all kinds.

to raise money

Jackson Academy is recycling cartridges for kids to raise money for the school.

Everyone is asked to bring in laser and inkjet cartridges, used cell phones, laptops, PDAs and Ipods to the school located at 1954 Coffeeville Road in Jackson or call the school at 251-246-5552.

Arts Council of

Thomasville

The Arts Council of Thomasville will be presenting the 3rd annual Kathryn Tucker Windham "Ghost Walk" on Saturday, Oct. 28, 5 p.m. at Clay Park in downtown Thomasville.

Enjoy a hayride to historic homes while listening to music, singing and tales of Thomasville's past.

Storytellers in period costume will tell tales from the "13 Alabama Ghosts" series.

Thomasville native Kathryn Tucker Windham will also be on hand to tell a few tales.

There will Ghost Walk Tshirts and books by Windham available for purchase, a children's costume contest beginning

at 6 p.m. and the Dixie River Band will entertain at Clay Park.

Bring the entire family and enjoy a night celebrating the Southern tradition of storytelling. There will be armbands for a special children's area the Thomasville High School Drama Club will sponsor which includes space jumps, slides and more. The White Smith Memorial Library will be hosting storytime on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. beginning Oct. 11 for children ages 3-4.

People First

aluminum can drive

The Clarke County People First aluminum can drive will continue through Oct. 20 for the United Way goal of $400. Drop off point is at Clarke County ARC on Forest Avenue in Jackson or call for pickup service at 246-3000.

Benefit cookout for

Earnest Williams

is Oct. 7

A benefit cookout for Earnest Williams is planned for Saturday, Oct. 7 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. He is in need of a prosthesis and it is very expensive. The benefit will be conducted across from the GoCo in Coffeeville at the intersection of Highway 69 and 84.

Fulton School

reunion Oct. 7

The Fulton School reunion is set for Saturday, Oct. 7, 10 a.m. in downtown Fulton.

The reunion is for everyone who attended the old and new school or lived in Fulton. There will be gospel singing beginning at 4 p.m. The reunion is sponsored by the Fulton Volunteer Fire Department. Everyone is asked to bring lawn chairs.

The Coffeeville Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor a Shrimp Boil, Oct. 14 at 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Highways 69 S and 84 W. Plates will be $8 each or per pound.

VFW 5355 meetings

The VFW Post 5355 and ladies auxiliary meets the third Thursday of every month, 6 p.m., at the VFW Club on Club Wiley Road. Members are urged to attend and new members are welcome.

Sickle Cell

Sickle Cell education and support group meets the first Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m., at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital.

Diabetic support

The Diabetic Support Group meets the first and third Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the dining room at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital. Diabetes education is also provided by the hospital free of charge. To schedule an appointment call (251) 275-3191, ext. 507.
