No.1 team in 2A walloped by Georgiana

The Southern Choctaw High School Indians traveled to Georgiana in Butler County Friday night, losing 20-13 as the Panthers upset the No. 1 in 2A.

The Indians got off to a good start in the first quarter with a 60yard touchdown pass from Jay Johnson to Terrell Johnson and with the PAT good, they led 7-0.

In the second quarter Georgiana got on the scoreboard with a touchdown and made their PAT to tie the game at 7-7. The game remained tied at halftime.

The Indians scored their second touchdown of the game on their second possession of the third quarter. Gregory Turner ran 70 yards for the score. The twopoint conversion failed and the Indians led 13-7.

The Panthers scored their second touchdown of the game and made the extra point and taking the lead, 14-13, with 2:31 to play.

Georgiana iced the game when they returned an interception 40

yards for a touchdown with no time left, winning 20-13 and upsetting the No. 1 ranked 2A team in the state in AHSAA.

Gregory Turner and Ervin Turner both made one interception.

Southern Choctaw dropped to 2-1 on the season and will play at home this Friday night against Flomation High School while Georgiana will travel to face the new No. 1 in Class 2A in the Leroy Bears.
