Rattler killed
When Juanita and Gene Allday returned home from church, Sunday evening, they found an unwelcome visitor in their yard. A large rattlesnake, measuring 4' 4" long was crawling through the grass. Gene retrieved his .22 caliber rifle and shot and killed the snake, which had seven rattles and a button. The Alldays live on East Cleveland Street in Jackson. Residents who live in town are nearly as likely to find a snake on their property as are those who live in the rural areas. The Allday's uninvited guest is also a reminder that although there have been some milder days with fall approaching, it is still warm enough for snakes to be crawling.
