The Leadership Clarke County Class of 2007 conducted its second meeting at the Jackson campus of Alabama Southern Community College.

During the meeting, Judy Graham presented class members with a copy of "The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader," by John C. Maxwell. She challenged six class participants to report on something out of the book for the next five classes.

Leadership Clarke County is a county-wide program which brings together a diverse group of people. They do not share a common age, lifestyle or career. What they do share is a vision for Clarke County.

The purpose of the program is to enhance individual leadership

abilities while educating participants about current conditions and potential needs of Clarke County. The mission is to identify, educate, and train a diverse group of potential leaders in this county.

Leadership Clarke County will develop these leaders through an effective network

and interchange of ideas to gain a better understanding of our (See LEADERSHIP on page 5-A) economic, political, educational and social conditions as they exist today. The program will show how we can improve the future by working together as a county.

Leadership Clarke County is an exciting and unique opportunity for those selected for the program. During the year, participants will attend six day-long seminars on specific high priority topics including:

*Diversity *Economic Development *Education *Health care *Local Government

*State Government High school juniors were incorporated into the adult leadership program last year. They attended half of the classes, but because of the positive feedback, the program has been to allow students to attend all classes next year. The students and adults all benefited from the diversity of perspectives. The adults realized that there are bright, capable young people to lead us in the future.

This year's participants are Lou Boykin, Kevin Brunson, Tony Counselman, Denise Flowers, Debra Grayson, Stephanie Hutchison, Angie Law, Sheena Lewis, Tina May, Aimee Moore, Becky Neugent, Jackie Newsom, Malissa Perine, Melissa Raine,

Rosalyn Sales, Pamela Scott, Kim Smith, Renee Smith, Paul South, Leta Stephens, Tommy Thompson, Jay Van Dee and Roy Waite.

Youth participants are Drew Harrigan, Paige Jackson, Ali Reynolds, Bethany Rush, Latoria Waters and Kimberly Wilson.
