Teams look for key wins as region play moves on

SIDELINE VIEW By Jeremy Sellers SA Columnist
After an interesting first week of region play, area teams have an idea what each team in their respective region holds. Some teams pulled off some big upsets and others did what they were expected to do. Jackson QB Kent Myers and I made our predictions for Week three.

Jackson vs Thomasville

The Aggies were able to put up 44 points against Monroe County in the week before they face the Tigers of Thomasville. Thomasville is ranked No. 1 in the state of Alabama for Class 4A. The Aggies are going to have to play their very best game. Predictions JeremyTHS 34, JHS 18. KentJHS 21, THS 20.

Millry vs Frisco City

Frisco City was able to squeak past McIntosh last week 14-8, while Millry pulled out a

tough one over Fruitdale 21-12. This game could go either way, depending on who can make the least amount of mistakes in the four quarters of play. Coach Taylor and Coach Quinn will have their 1A Region 1 squads ready for action come Friday night. Predictions JeremyFCHS 16, MHS 13. KentMHS 28, FCHS 14.

Wash Co vs Choctaw Co.

Washington County and Choctaw County both grabbed huge wins last week over Mobile Christian and Francis Marion, respectively. Washington County put up 26 points on Mobile Christian while Choctaw County put up 28 on Francis Marion. This game has got the potential to be a nail-biter right down to the very end. Predictions JeremyWCHS 24, CCHS 6. KentWCHS 28, CCHS 14.

McIntosh vs Fruitdale

McIntosh was able to put up a good fight last week against Frisco City, but came up just short as the Whippets defeated the Demons 14-8. Fruitdale also came up on the short end of the stick against Millry 2112 in a battle of Washington County. Once again, the team with the fewest mistakes will come away with the victory.

Southern Choctaw vs Excel

The Southern Choctaw Indians will try to move to 2-0 in 2A Region 1 when they travel over to Butler County to face the Georgiana Panthers. Georgiana is coming off of a big win over Bayside last week 34-21. Southern Choctaw should have an edge here.

Coffeeville vs Blacksher-

The Panthers will be looking for their first win of the season when they travel to Uriah

Friday night to face-off against Coach Shehan's J.U. Blacksher Bulldogs. This has the ability to be a barn burner, just like many other of our area games this week. Predictions: JeremyJUB 28, CHS 6. KentJUB 21, CHS 14.

I would like to thank Kent Myer for predicting with me this week. So far, my record is 17-3 while my guests are 14-6.
